Well, now. A lot has changed since I last wrote. I did some reading, some watching, and some typing. And a whole lot of trial and error. (Including grappling with issues related to my Chromebook rather than the web development stuff I was trialling...)
The net result is we are now running 11ty (or is it eleventy?) on the Chromebook's Linux... thing. And I have a bunch of barebones pages and posts which are all talking nicely to one another.
The magic happens when the site itself is 'generated', which locally happens every time I save a file - the files are all then re-generated automatically, and an entire new version of the website is created in a folder. That folder is currently running locally and I'm reviewing things in a browser pointing at that folder. But if I wanted to I could easily just upload that entire folder to a web host, and it would just... be online.
How cool is that?!
Anyway. That's all for now. More soon...
